Un peu d’histoire :

The site is very old and Cremille was an old Gallo-Roman villa, founded by a certain Cremius. The house then became a fortified farmhouse in the Middle-Ages, a manor in the XVII c. and is today still surrounded by a pentagonal water moat. One of the old defensive towers on the South-East side of the moat was transformed into a dovecot. The access to the chateau is via two stone bridges, one over the moat, the other over the canal.
The chateau was bought by the current owner’s family on 14 July 1834. The property was at that time a shooting lodge and not much has changed since, the house having retained its distinctive character and its quiet location in the woods.

During the Second World War, the French government was briefly moved to Tours in June 1940 and the chateau was used as the Chinese Embassy. It was then occupied by the Germans who used it as their local Kommandantur

La famille :

The family originally comes from Baillou, near Vendome and descends from one of Henri IVs doctors, whose son settled in Touraine in 1613.
Although neither famous, nor prestigious, the family is nonetheless related to well known figures like the Pope Clement V, Montaigne, Corneille, Charlotte de Corday, Mirabeau, etc.
Henri, the current owner is also a descendant of King Charles VII.

Today, the family welcomes you into its home like friends and hopes you will appreciate this relaxed family atmosphere.
